Union Suiza culminates its 185th anniversary with a memorable gala and announces the winning jewel of the commemorative competition

Union Suiza concluded its 185th-anniversary year with an exclusive gala held at the Llotja de Mar in Barcelona; an event that brought together 185 prominent guests from Catalan society and was attended by the entire Vendrell family, as well as the company's CEO, Daniel Rossinés.

The celebration became the ideal setting to award the winning piece of the "185th Anniversary Commemorative Jewel" competition, a call whose objective was to create an emblematic piece that reflected the essence of the company, through the fusion of tradition and modernity. To this end, Unión Suiza invited four renowned figures from various creative fields.

Nandu Jubany, Teresa Helbig, Pia Capdevila, Lídia Masllorens and Bibiana Ballbè

The artists in charge of presenting the proposals for the finalist jewels were Pia Capdevila, Lídia Masllorens, Teresa Helbig and Nandu Jubany, who, each with their own style and from the perspective of their different disciplines, contributed their vision on how their art can be transformed into a jewel. All the proposals were interpreted and materialized by the jeweler Adán Rafael Barbero.

Enric Vendrell, Margarita Puig, Bibiana Ballbè, Javier Mariscal, Olga Ruiz, and Verónica Blume

The winning piece was selected through votes from a jury, comprising four personalities such as Margarita Puig (Grupo Godó), Javier Mariscal (artist), Verónica Blume (model), and Olga Ruíz (Unidad Editorial), as well as David Vendrell and Enric Vendrell from the sixth and seventh generations. Also, through votes from the audience present at the gala.

TRILOGY

Ultimately, the winning design was "Trilogy," the creative proposal by Pía Capdevila, a ring made of three gold colors—yellow, white, and rose—that encapsulates the essence of time in its circular form: past, present, and future. Its design incorporates the number 185 as a tribute to the brand's years and the spirit that has kept it alive. The 1, represented by a central diamond, evokes the origin and determination that started its history; the 8, formed by eight baguette diamonds on white gold, symbolizes perpetual movement and a contemporary outlook; and the 5, with five brilliant-cut diamonds set in rose gold, represents the future, the promise of evolution and continuity.

The winning jewel: a symbol of legacy and innovation

Trilogía is a piece designed to accompany you every day. This discreet yet soulful jewel celebrates time, artisan hands, and the patience that shapes true luxury: that which endures.

With Trilogía, Pía Capdevila sought to pay homage to Unión Suiza's 185 years of history, reinterpreting the values of elegance and timelessness with a forward-looking perspective.

Trilogía will become part of Union Suiza's jewelry collection, and 10% of its sale price will be donated to the San Joan de Déu foundation.

"From the very first moment I imagined and started sketching this commemorative jewel, the intention was clear: to create a piece capable of reflecting 185 years of tradition, passion, precision, and brilliance. A jewel that would speak of yesterday, today, and tomorrow; of the art that endures, of the excellence that evolves, and of the future that subtly makes its way."

Adán Rafael Barbero

The process of crafting the jewel, developed in collaboration with jeweler Adán Rafael Barbero, was carried out using traditional high jewelry techniques, thus creating a piece that balances the purity of craftsmanship with contemporary innovation.

The result is a piece with profound symbolism, transcending its ornamental function to become an emblem of the Unión Suiza legacy.

The three remaining jewels will be auctioned off, with the funds raised going to charitable causes selected by each author, thus reaffirming Unión Suiza's social commitment on this historic anniversary.
