GRAND SEIKO EVOLUTION 9

This dress watch is equipped with the Grand Seiko Caliber 9SA4, the first 36,000 vph hand-wound mechanical movement created by the brand in approximately 50 years. Today, the ritual of winding a watch is one of life's pleasures. The simple act of turning the crown stimulates the senses to establish a deeper connection with the natural flow of time. In the 1960s and 1970s, Grand Seiko creations with 10 vibrations were hand-wound in the pursuit of greater rate stability and higher precision. Caliber 9SA4 will make its debut in a new dress watch belonging to the Evolution 9 Collection, whose design represents the continuation of the Grand Seiko Style dating back to the iconic 44GS of 1967. This time, the Evolution 9 Style has been further refined to create a timepiece that instantly conveys the charm, elegance, grace, and subtlety one would expect from a hand-wound dress watch. Several aspects of the design have been revised, from the prominent, fluted indexes, which have been slimmed down and lengthened, to the multifaceted lugs, which are now narrower and have a smaller surface area. The watch's center of gravity has been lowered to ensure the comfort and stability characteristic of Grand Seiko's Evolution 9 creations. The case and clasp are crafted from Grand Seiko's Brilliant Hard Titanium. Thanks to this alloy, which is more lustrous than traditional titanium, Zaratsu-polished surfaces appear even more radiant, achieving a result faithful to the quality and beauty typical of a Grand Seiko dress watch. Brilliant Hard Titanium makes the watch not only lightweight but also highly resistant to corrosion and scratches, with twice the strength of standard stainless steel. The movement achieves greater winding efficiency thanks to a realignment of the gear train and a redesign of the parts, allowing the Calibre 9SA4 to achieve an 80-hour power reserve with 15 percent fewer crown turns than those required to achieve the same power for the Calibre 9SA5 when hand-wound. Thanks to its slender movement, the latest birch-inspired mechanical watch measures 38.6 mm in diameter and is 9.95 mm thick.
