Since 2009, and after decades of certifying its timepieces with the coveted Poinçon de Genève, Patek Philippe has decided to take its standards to the next level and create its own seal. This new seal is the evolution of a philosophy of quality and excellence that has been the essence and the goal pursued by Patek Philippe since its founding.
Unlike other quality certifications, the Patek Philippe seal explicitly reflects the principles and philosophy that distinguish Patek Philippe from other fine watchmaking brands. In fact, it is nothing less than a reflection of the firm's savoir-faire and founding values, which include tradition, quality, craftsmanship, and exclusivity.
It is a global seal of quality and affects the entire production, regardless of the degree of complication; global quality refers to the entire watch in its technical and aesthetic aspects.
From a technical perspective, the Patek Philippe seal far exceeds the requirements of the various existing certifications and hallmarks, affecting the entire watch assembly, including the movement, case, dial, hands, bracelets, pushers, and clasps. The seal requires that both the movements and their components, as well as the rest of the watch, be created in compliance with all the quality criteria established by the manufacturer.
Additionally, the requirement also extends to the materials used, including precious metals or precious stones.
The Patek Philippe Seal regulations establish very strict control levels that verify compliance with the various requirements at every stage of manufacturing. Precision is the most important priority in the development and manufacture of movements. The accepted intervals for any Patek Philippe watch (with a caliber larger than 20 mm) range from -1 to +2 seconds per day, representing an unsurpassed accuracy of 99.997%.
Additionally, the various elements of the mechanisms are carefully meticulously crafted: they are polished and decorated like key pieces with perfect finishes. The unique mastery of both cutting-edge technologies and craftsmanship is guaranteed by the numerous inspections to which each watch is subjected. The seal therefore combines the requirements of precision, functionality, and comfort that make every Patek Philippe watch a masterpiece.
